4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

Allowing students to pick their own groups. As a female working with two guys on this project, they many times took the lead without considering my input. The old stereotype of men claiming to be the "know-all's" of directions really showed through in this exercise, which made the experience overall somewhat less enjoyable.

Splitting up and rotating the groups as was done with the distance azimuth survey would have made it easier to get a chance at utilizing all the data collection tools available.

The tutorial was nice, even necessary. A little further explaining could have been provided in executing the fly overs or what was desired in the maps for Part 3 of the blog post.

I was a little confused how to formulate the maps. It was hard to chose what to include without knowing much about the future lab we would use them for. Overall, I feel I grasped the general concepts necessary.

Mapping Fundamentals:

4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

I think this lab may have gone over more effectively if the blogging outline and instructions we were given through d2l were more detailed in what the project was looking for within each section of the blog. The last two blog instructions were extremely detailed in what was to be included in or focused on in the written sections of the blog. This lab, however, lacked some of that context.

I think it would be beneficial to explore what each of these methods did while in class in order to gain a better understanding overall of each of the five methods.

Creating a Digital Elevation Surface Model Assessment:

  3. No real opinion
  4. Agree
  5. Strongly agree
4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?

While I appreciated the learning curve in the hands-off instruction prior to the execution of the lab, given that I had so little clue as to how to go about executing this, it made for a real challenge. I appreciated having group mates to collaborate with for ideas on the best methods to use, and how to undertake the task at hand.
